Multi award-winning Irish poet CIARÁN HODGERS is currently touring his anticipated debut collection Cosmocartography, published by Burning Eye Books. An exploration of meaning and belonging, Ciarán has been billed as a “powerhouse poet at the top of their game” and has performed around the UK and Ireland. The Word War 3 Slam Champion, International Pangaea Poetry Slam Winner and Sean Dunne Young Writer 2010, expect a lyrical and emotional performance.
SOPHIE SPARHAM is a writer and spoken word artist from Derby. Her debut poetry collection ‘Please Mind the Gap’ was released last year and features a foreword from Benjamin Zephaniah. Sophie has written poetry commissions for Writing East Midlands, BBC Radio 4 and The People’s History Museum. This year Sophie gave a Ted X Talk at the University of Kent about how spoken word can improve our cultural awareness. She has recently written a pop-up show, featuring three actors for the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the V&A. She lectures Writing for Radio at the University of Derby.
North-East based singer-songwriter, ALIX ALEXANDRA, is waiting for a band who need a singer and love The Dresden Dolls. But in the meantime, she accompanies herself on the ukulele and will play a series of self-penned songs that speak of love, politics, family, and feelings but hopefully in a way that’s not as nauseating as that sounds. She’s supported protest singer Grace Petrie & poet Holly McNish and is currently working on her first full length album.
NATHAN TOMMIS came to comedy through doing improvised comedy at University. He also hosts the podcast Non-Sequitur but most of his time is spent engaged in full blown nerdery which he hopes to bring to the stage
Also featuring anything goes OPEN MIC!
