Endless Window is bringing the brilliant avant-pop artist Kapil Seshasayee back to The Cumberland Arms for his first full band show in Newcastle on Friday 18th October, with support from the elusive, innovative Bianca Scout and Tyneside fuzz-rock institution Fret! Advance tickets are available from Thursday 9th August on WeGotTickets for just £5:
Having delighted on previous EW bills with The Unit Ama and Okay Champ, and after a year where Kapil Seshasayee has played SXSW and Latitude Music Festival and been featured by Pitchfork, VICE and BBC Radio Scotland, Kapil Seshasayee returns to Newcastle to present his full band show for the first time. In the wake of critical praise for his debut album A Sacred Bore, Seshasayee is currently preparing the release of the first single from his forthcoming second album, continuing to explore the plethora of musical, cultural and ideological influences in his work: motifs from industrial rock, electronica and Carnatic music collide while Seshasayee dissects the repressive caste system and its parallels to far-right nationalism. A unique and vital artist we’re excited to be welcoming back.
Pushing at the boundaries of form and genre, Bianca Scout’s work is a futuristic, surprising joy. Although primarily dealing in subdued ambiance and R&B surrealism, Scout’s immersive recorded output and charismatic performances have seen her work with other talents like experimental jazz luminary Ben Vince and Hyperdub wunderkind Klein. An artist we’ve been following for a while, Bianca Scout’s EW debut is sure to be one to remember.
Cath Tyler, Rob Woodcock and Steve Strode: three formidable musicians in their own right. Yet when they come together as Fret!, something special happens. Focusing on tight, frenzied riffing ripped out of the Amphetamine Reptile playbook, their latest release A Vanity Spawned By Fear is another fine example of their fuzz-rock pedigree. Just like any Fret! show, expect a visceral and thrilling experience.
