David Bowie’s 1972 album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (often shortened to Ziggy Stardust) is the fifth studio album from Bowie. It is a concept album telling the story of a fictional rock star named Ziggy Stardust, Bowie’s alter ego, who acts as a messenger for extraterrestrial beings.
It has been consistently considered one of the greatest albums of all time, with Rolling Stone ranking it as the 35th greatest album ever.
This year the album was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry, being deemed “culturally, historically, or artistically significant” by the Library of Congress
NB; the album will be played in our public bar, where people are welcome to sit and chat who are not there specifically to hear the music, but the volume level will be above the normal of background music.
