Change of opening hours

We have decided for the time being to change our opening times, so for now from Monday to Thursday we will be opening at 4pm, Friday we wil be opening at 3pm and Saturday and Sunday are staying the same opening at 12.30pm. Thank you [Added: 14/03/2008]

New Event At The Cumberland

Shop Bar None

Do you cringe at turning up in the same high street dress as your friends? Are you tired of waiting in queues to buy uninspiring, mass produced goods which usually fall apart within a week? If so you will be interested in a new shopping event, which will allow you to buy unusual, quality goods to adorn yourself and your surroundings. Even better you'll be able to shop for these goods in a relaxed environment with live music, from acts such as Beth Jeans Houghton, and also have a drink and a bite to eat if you fancy it.


The first "Shop Bar None" event will be held on 2nd March, between 1.30 and 6pm. Skilled vendors from around the UK will gather to sell goods including unique leather handbags, original artworks, eye-catching jewellery and more. "Shop Bar None" will be held four times a year, but you won't see the same thing twice; each event will be as unique as the goods on sale.

Winter Beer Festival...

Starting Friday the 1st of February. This year will be featuring 16 specially selected beers.

As you know we love to support our local real ale breweries but this is a chance for you (and us!) to sample some tastes from further a field.

To avoid the disappointment of missing one of your favourites come down on at the beginning!!! Once it’s gone, it’s gone!!!

New Beer

We have a bit of a change round with our draft products and are now selling the brand spanking new beer Grolsch Weizen... A premier wheat beer with warm citrus flavours and a slight spicy after taste. Come down, try it out and let us know what you think! [Added: 01/11/2007]

Cider and winter drinks (and soup!)

Folowing our success of winning the Camra North East Cider Pub of the Year we will continue to have a wide selection available . . . Look out for Ashgrove Medium, a completely new cider. We will be one of the first pubs in the north to offer it for you to try . . . .
In addition we have mulled wine, hot spiced cider and hot toddies to clear the winter sniffles!!
Last but not least there is now a new soup available, sweet potato , coconut with chilli and ginger . . . the creator of which (Fluff) has been described as a goddess!!
